May of 2013 looks to be an exciting month for Bachnein. If you’ve seen us in person, you know we have a few new items this season. If you know us through Instagram or Twitter, than you may just be finding out about our new Dri Fit shirt and the Throw Local t-shirts.

SapBucketPosterIn just about a week, Bachnein will be at the Sap Bucket Open in Waterbury, Vermont. If you’re not familiar with the Sap Bucket, it’s notable for a few reasons. Not only do you get some classic northern New England disc golf, but it happens to be brought to you by the Alchemist Brewery, maker of Beer Advocate’s Top Beer, Heady Topper. As if that’s not enough, the Sap Bucket is part of the Green Mountain Point Series, which is sponsored by Three Penny Taproom, a beer bar rated as World Class by Beer Advocate and the always fabulous and super authentic Mad Taco.

What we’re trying to say is that Bachnein is happy to be a part of it.

Later in the month we’ll make an appearance in far northern Vermont at the very cool Black Falls in Montgomery, Vermont. If you’re looking for a reason to come visit our fair state, check out what they have to offer. Disc Golf Course Review happens to rate the course a very impressive 4.61. Plus, it’s a course that’s gotten much nicer in the past 12 months. Some come check it out.

In the meantime, Throw Local.

Bachnein2013When it comes to disc golf in Vermont, we’re not always as blessed with good weather as many of you in other parts of the country. Of course, here there’s plenty of skiing, snowboarding, snow shoeing, and cross country work to be done, but the kind of precipitation that’s good for those sports isn’t quite as good for our disc golfing.

So, as April rolls around each year, those of us up north really get excited about disc golf weather. And for those of us at Bachnein, we have more than just good weather to look forward to in 2013. We’ve got the first two events in the Green Mountain Point Series looming on the horizon- The Pinnacle Spring Run-Off in Newport, New Hampshire and the Sap Bucket in Waterbury, Vermont. We’ve got a fresh looking website thanks to the outstanding efforts of Taylor Johnson. And we’ve got a few new items to debut in the Bachein 2013 line.

In the next few days you’ll see our new merch on our website and in our store front. For now we can tell you there’s a dri-fit coming in one of your favorite classic designs and some soft, new t-shirts with Bachnein’s newest slogan and a fresh look. Later in the season you’ll see some things to put on your heads and arms along with some things to stick to your water bottles and cars.

2013 looks to be a tremendous year not just in Vermont, but for our growing sport of disc golf in general. Bachnein’s happy to be a part of it. Look for our new stuff in the next few days. In the meantime, Throw Local.

The biggest news in Vermont disc golf this summer has to be the redesign and installation of the new course “Brewster Ridge” at Smuggler’s Notch. The crew there, lead by Jeff Spring, has created an instant classic in the VT scene. On October 20th the course will host this year’s Fall Platter. The tournament has a long history and marks the first time it will be held at Smuggs. Bachnein will be onsite with our merch tent and will be providing division payouts. This event is a great opportunity for casual and new players looking to try tournament play and gives seasoned veterans a challenging course to compete on. Sign up today here!

Bachnein is helping organize this year’s Burke View IV. The tournament is part of the Green Mountain Point Series and is presented by Fiddlehead Brewing Company and Three Penny Taproom. The tournament is located on the Burke View disc golf course located at Lyndon State College. The course features beautiful views of the Northeast kingdom and has a mix of huge bomb holes and tight wooded holes. There are still spots available so sign up here. Bachnein will be on site with plenty of gear.

Bachnein has been a part of the disc golf scene since early 2011. We’ve spent that time working on logos and prints, designing disc golf apparel, and working some Vermont and New England disc golf tournaments.

Starting today, we’re officially launching our online store. Now, we’ll be able to ship our apparel nationwide and you’ll get to see what so many Vermont disc golfers have been excited about for the last few weeks.

So, feel free to check things out. We’ve got some great dri-fit super shirts, some heady disc golf t-shirts, amazing FlexFit hats, zippered hoodies and some legit ladies gear. Our screen printing and embroidering are done in Burlington, Vermont and we’ve worked hard to bring you quality clothing that’s worth your money.

If you can’t make it to the Green Mountain State this year, then you can still get your disc golfing hands on some of our favorite gear, wherever you may live.

Maybe your next round of disc golf could be played in some sweet Bachnein gear.

-Team Bachnein

After an amazing debut season in 2011, Vermont’s own Bachnein Disc Golf is happy to be kicking off 2012. The opening event of the Green Mountain Point Series was at the Pinnacle Disc Golf Course in Newport, New Hampshire on April 28. The Bachnein crew was on hand to play disc golf, show off some gear, and provide Bachnein Bucks to the winning AM players.

Pinnacle is a beautiful 5600 foot course that’s rated as an impressive 3.88 on Disc Golf Course Review. It starts off innocently enough, near some high school recreational facilities, but quickly gets steep and technical. Not quite as steep and technical as the 104 foot ski jump you play around, but pretty impressive either way. Pinnacle really is Northern New England woods disc golf at its finest and Bachnein was happy to be there to help kick things off.

In a very fitting fashion, New Hampshire disc golfers took all of the major prizes, including the Men’s Pro Open division and the Men’s Advanced Amateur division. Despite cold weather and strong winds, these locals showed their course pride and used local knowledge for home course advantage. You can find full results by visiting the Green Mountain Disc Golf Club and commentary at Circle Three.

Although Pinnacle was an amazing experience, its only the beginning of the 2012 season. Bachnein’s got a lot of things brewing. New gear is on the way and tournament season, thankfully, is about to get heated. Look for us in Waterbury, Vermont at the Sap Bucket X on May 20 and in Randolph, Vermont at the Gnomes Challenge V on June 23. In the mean time, throw it far.

Thanks everyone for a great kick off year! As 2011 dwindles away, we look back at an amazing first year and look forward to a bright future. Our initial product line was extremely popular and we’re excited to get back to the design process and bring some fresh looks for 2012. The events we were a part of across Vermont and around the Northeast were a blast and we will build upon this for 2012.

There was the Twin Falls Money Game Point Series located at our home course which was a great time with our close Vermont friends. Then, all the Vermont events throughout the season saw growth and enthusiasm thanks to the GMDGC. We took the show on the road traveling to NEFA events in New Hampshire, Massachusetts and New York. Then there was the Vibram Open which was our first taste of National PDGA tour disc golf. A lot of fun meeting new people, growing the sport and spreading the Bachnein word!

Aside from the all the events and rounds over the season, we got give a shout out to social media. With Twitter, Instagram and Facebook, Bachnein grew a nice base of followers. It was a lot of fun connecting with people around the country, hearing other great disc golf stories and pumping up the disc golf love! Since starting our accounts, we have seen the disc golf conversations grow and grow! We’re all helping the sport grow by tweeting, snapping pics and blogging (check out Circle Three).

Thanks for the all the support!

Yeah Disc Golf.

Bachnein couldn’t be more excited to attend The Vibram Open at Maple Hill. Some of the top players in disc golf will be throwing down on the northeast’s greatest course. We will be set up handing out refreshments and spreading the Bachnein word. Follow us at @bachneinvt on Twitter for various updates. Also the hashtag for the event is #VibramOpen.

The aces have been flowing this summer and our friend Scott Barber filmed a nice ace at the legendary hole 18 at Twin Falls. Yea Disc Golf!

The Green Mountain Point Series has been rolling along and the next two events are the most exciting and located on Vermont’s top two disc golf courses. First up is the 20th Calais Open.

After 20 years the course has never looked better or played harder. A true Vermont gem, Calais plays on some of the most picturesque disc golf holes in the US. The North Calais Disc Golf Club works hard to maintain and beatify course and always host fine tournaments. If you have the opportunity, sign up for this event. You don’t want to hear how great it was from your buddies.

Next up is the Run for the Border Challenge. The tournament will span two days in mid-August on the great sister courses Black Falls and Cherry Hill. Both offer the whole spectrum of challenging. Both Cherry Hill and Black Falls boast huge fairways and tight woods. This weekend will be one to remember, so join us up north.
