Bachnein

After an amazing debut season in 2011, Vermont’s own Bachnein Disc Golf is happy to be kicking off 2012. The opening event of the Green Mountain Point Series was at the Pinnacle Disc Golf Course in Newport, New Hampshire on April 28. The Bachnein crew was on hand to play disc golf, show off some gear, and provide Bachnein Bucks to the winning AM players.

Pinnacle is a beautiful 5600 foot course that’s rated as an impressive 3.88 on Disc Golf Course Review. It starts off innocently enough, near some high school recreational facilities, but quickly gets steep and technical. Not quite as steep and technical as the 104 foot ski jump you play around, but pretty impressive either way. Pinnacle really is Northern New England woods disc golf at its finest and Bachnein was happy to be there to help kick things off.

In a very fitting fashion, New Hampshire disc golfers took all of the major prizes, including the Men’s Pro Open division and the Men’s Advanced Amateur division. Despite cold weather and strong winds, these locals showed their course pride and used local knowledge for home course advantage. You can find full results by visiting the Green Mountain Disc Golf Club and commentary at Circle Three.

Although Pinnacle was an amazing experience, its only the beginning of the 2012 season. Bachnein’s got a lot of things brewing. New gear is on the way and tournament season, thankfully, is about to get heated. Look for us in Waterbury, Vermont at the Sap Bucket X on May 20 and in Randolph, Vermont at the Gnomes Challenge V on June 23. In the mean time, throw it far.

Thanks everyone for a great kick off year! As 2011 dwindles away, we look back at an amazing first year and look forward to a bright future. Our initial product line was extremely popular and we’re excited to get back to the design process and bring some fresh looks for 2012. The events we were a part of across Vermont and around the Northeast were a blast and we will build upon this for 2012.

There was the Twin Falls Money Game Point Series located at our home course which was a great time with our close Vermont friends. Then, all the Vermont events throughout the season saw growth and enthusiasm thanks to the GMDGC. We took the show on the road traveling to NEFA events in New Hampshire, Massachusetts and New York. Then there was the Vibram Open which was our first taste of National PDGA tour disc golf. A lot of fun meeting new people, growing the sport and spreading the Bachnein word!

Aside from the all the events and rounds over the season, we got give a shout out to social media. With Twitter, Instagram and Facebook, Bachnein grew a nice base of followers. It was a lot of fun connecting with people around the country, hearing other great disc golf stories and pumping up the disc golf love! Since starting our accounts, we have seen the disc golf conversations grow and grow! We’re all helping the sport grow by tweeting, snapping pics and blogging (check out Circle Three).

Thanks for the all the support!

Yeah Disc Golf.

Bachnein couldn’t be more excited to attend The Vibram Open at Maple Hill. Some of the top players in disc golf will be throwing down on the northeast’s greatest course. We will be set up handing out refreshments and spreading the Bachnein word. Follow us at @bachneinvt on Twitter for various updates. Also the hashtag for the event is #VibramOpen.

The aces have been flowing this summer and our friend Scott Barber filmed a nice ace at the legendary hole 18 at Twin Falls. Yea Disc Golf!

The Green Mountain Point Series has been rolling along and the next two events are the most exciting and located on Vermont’s top two disc golf courses. First up is the 20th Calais Open.

After 20 years the course has never looked better or played harder. A true Vermont gem, Calais plays on some of the most picturesque disc golf holes in the US. The North Calais Disc Golf Club works hard to maintain and beatify course and always host fine tournaments. If you have the opportunity, sign up for this event. You don’t want to hear how great it was from your buddies.

Next up is the Run for the Border Challenge. The tournament will span two days in mid-August on the great sister courses Black Falls and Cherry Hill. Both offer the whole spectrum of challenging. Both Cherry Hill and Black Falls boast huge fairways and tight woods. This weekend will be one to remember, so join us up north.

We’re in the heat of mid summer and the Disc Golf is hot. The Bachnein crew has a full weekend of tournaments reaching out into the depths of New England.

On Saturday July 16th we head to The West Thompson Open in North Grosvernor Dale, CT. There are a lot of great players down in these parts and the courses are plentiful, beautiful and well maintained. We are excited to spread the word of Bachein and Vermont. Thanks to the West Thompson crew for having us.

Next, we head to the Lincoln Peak Open on Saturday. We’ll take the lift up and throw down on one of Vermont’s most spectacular courses. Sugarbush resort has a peak and base course both of which have their challenges. The peak course plays down the moutain’s ski trails, including over 1000 ft holes and huge elevation changes. Be on the lookout for some Bachnein media following the tournament. And Follow @bachneinVT on twitter for post round updates.

Last weekend the Bachnein crew traveled to Sturbridge, MA to participate in the 1st annual Disc Jam. The event was a disc golf tournament, jam band festival hybrid. The venue was set at Hyland Brewery and Orchard which has a great disc golf course and accommodations. The central pavilion was lively with great acts and jam enthusiasts. Our tent was not far away and we loved meeting all the new people, introducing some to disc golf, and equipping them with plastic (and sick threads).

On Saturday, the NEFA points tournament coincided with the festivities. The course sprawls throughout the surrounding orchards and woods. For a relatively immature course, it feels established. A lot of big bomber holes for Rang Duce and of course the tight woods for Matty O. Saturday night the Bachnein tent was lively while the music went on. We hosted a putting challenge where contestants attempt a putt to win a disc. We had a winner!!!

We will definitely be returning to Disc Jam next year. Thanks to everyone that helped out to put on a great event.

We are very proud to announce that American Flatbread in Burlington has created a lovely bach style beer titled “BACH NEIN.” Got to try it last night and it is a very refreshing Bach which tastes as smooth as a meteor hitting the chains.

We thank American Flatbread for their support of us and disc golf. If you have a chance head down to Flatbread during Jazz Fest and beyond, go try the BACHNEIN.

Black falls was a success and we are looking forward to the Gnomes Challenge. But, Bachnein is most proud to announce we will be heading to Disc Jam in Sturbridge, MA.

Located at Hyland Orchard and Brewery, Disc Jam is a three day disc golf and music festival. There is a two round tournament on Saturday, free play on Friday, with something special planned for Sunday. Gonna be a great long weekend with good music and a ton of disc. Bachnein is planning on bringing down a solid crew, so if any VTers want in, give us a shout! The whole event is incredibly affordable. So let’s give them support for their first year and get this thing going!

Sometimes I get either inspired or bored. The movie above is a fine example.
